An Oddmall for Oddballs

Michael MacWolff

Hey everyone, I've been taking a short hiatus from cosplay work to get ready for one of my biggest vending events of the year, Oddmall!

While sales were a little slower than usual this year, I still had a blast and sold plenty of stuff.

I had all of my usual wares, including ties, bow ties, jewelry, life counters, buttons, borbs, and bowtruckles! Also, my last remaining mimic, which I need to find some more fun containers to make a few more.

Besides hanging out and peddling my wares, this event was my first opportunity to show off my brand new creature carrier! For those of you who don't follow my Instagram, my sister got me this awesome backpack for my birthday.

Of course I'm not going to take this thing camping, but I did turn it into a mobile creature carrier!

As of right now, there are a total of 19 species on here, and naturally I plan to add more as I make/acquire more. Here's what you can find on there, see if you can spot them on the pack (some of them are harder to see than others):

  1. Phoenix
  2. Runespoor
  3. Drive Imp
  4. Fwooper
  5. Puffskein
  6. Bowtruckle
  7. Jewel Spider (made by Amanda's Arachnids)
  8. Golden Snidget
  9. Lagget
  10. Demiguise
  11. Jabberknoll
  12. Kraken Spawn (is mostly hidden behind the jabberknoll cage)
  13. Raiju
  14. Journeyer
  15. Niffler
  16. Doxie
  17. Wood Nymph (made by C.M. Manfredi)
  18. Amustelid
  19. Lethifold (is completely hidden behind the wood nymph in all the photos)

I picked up a few new critters this weekend too, from some of my favorite fellow cryptozoologists!

First off I got a new kraken spawn from Tindle Bears, after my last one managed to escape. They are quite crafty creatures and skilled escape artists, so I'll have to be more careful with their aquarium in the future.

We also have an as-yet-unnamed species (left) created by She-Jackal Arts, who instantly charmed me and I wore him around for the rest of the day sticking out of my vest. And we also have a succuludo, a species in the succuloid family. These desert creatures differ from the common succuloid morphology but have similar survival strategies in the harsh, dry environment in which they are found. This lovely creature was created by Turkey-Eyes Art, who I made friends with a couple of years ago at Oddmall when we nerded out over magical creatures together. They created the original fwooper I have as well, and I liked their face so much I made a similar one when I created my own fwooper.

It will be some time before I can get these new creatures situated into their home here, and I look forward to studying each of them and finding out just how they live and what they can do!

Until next time, stay werid ;-)
